According to the LA Times, "the Perseid meteor shower that will peak Thursday night and Friday morning is expected to be unusually bright and visible in the night sky this year
Bright moonlight is detrimental to proper viewing of illuminating flashes in the sky. So like is the light pollution from a city. That is why it is always better to choose a spot to watch meteor showers that is far away from cities.
Moreover, on the same day, August 13, 30 minutes after sunset, groupings of naked eye planets such as Mars, Venus, Saturn and Mercury will be seen in the western horizon. The crescent moon will join this grouping at around eight in the evening.
However there might be one problem though: the moon tends to be very bright this time of year and can make the shooting stars less visible,

Last year, the moon was out and we still had a good show.

It's a relatively new moon , so it won't be bright at all .
